As an established novelist and poet years before he became a singer/songwriter, his literary accomplishments exceed any contemporaries.  Leonard Cohen is arguably the most successful songwriter of the 60’s, and has probably influenced more young musicians, poets, and writers than any other artist from the 60’s still producing.
